The impact of the BCI (Brain-Computer Interface) numeric keyboard layout on usability — summary

This is a continuation of the BCI (Brain-Computer Interface) keyboard project, which three members of SpaceCoffee worked on during the previous two semesters. This time, they focused on researching user experiences — they managed to develop a set of seven interfaces for the application they had created earlier.

As part of the implementation, a group of ten volunteers recruited by the project members completed tests on all interfaces. Their task was to enter the PIN displayed in the application using a device with electroencephalograph functionality, NextMind. Their statistics were automatically collected and recorded by the program. Finally, the testers evaluated the interface designs in terms of convenience, intuitiveness, and speed of use, and shared their personal experiences with different numeric keypad layouts.

The research project concluded with a summary of the collected results and user opinions in the form of a poster prepared for the “Politechnika Project” conference. See post
