Introduction
The SpaceCoffee Meteorological Station project involves the construction of a station equipped with a system for performing atmospheric measurements and studying weather components. The station is part of a docking station for an airship being developed in parallel, and the data collected during its operation has a significant impact on the operation of the vehicle. It will be used to create flight scenarios used in the machine learning process of the autonomy system; knowledge of weather conditions is also essential in making decisions about test flights of the airship, and over time, it will enable its system to autonomously confirm the possibility of takeoff.
Research
The SC weather station is designed to collect data on weather conditions such as:
- Testing with an anemometer and precipitation sensor
- Detection of flammable gases and carbon monoxide
- Testing dust concentration in the air.
- Lightning detection
System and communication
The operation of the sensors is coordinated by an ESP32 microcontroller. The station is powered by solar cells.
